Cadbury Research Fellowship Scheme 2017 for African Scholars
Applications for the Cadbury Research Fellowship Scheme 2017 have been opened. This fellowship scheme is run annually by the Department of African Studies and Anthropology of the University of Birmingham. The Fellowship is fully funded.
The Cadbury programme for 2017 will be organised around the theme of Marriage in Africa. It is convened in honour of Lynne Brydon and marks her contribution to the establishment of gender studies in Africa.

Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP) 2017 for Mid-Career African Academics
The ASLP is an initiative of the University of Pretoria in partnership with the Global Young Awards, funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The programme aims to train fellows in advanced leadership skills and empower them to lead a new paradigm for African science.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD) invites applications for school year 2017-18. The EDSD is an eleven-month program that is offered every year, with the goal to provide students in the first year of their doctoral studies with an appropriate high-level education in demography. Students will acquire a solid knowledge base on causes and consequences of demographic change, population data, statistical and mathematical demography, as well as modeling, simulation and forecasting.
The EDSD does not charge fees. Several European research institutes and universities provide full fellowships for all students accepted into the School. The application deadline is March 15, 2017.

POST-DOC POSITION, “Global-Race” Project
Ined is recruiting to fill one postdoctoral position for its project “Global-Race” funded by ANR, with an appointment term of two years. The position will be attached to the research unit “International Migration and Minorities”.and the activities will be performed with the project team (see here: http://global-race.site.ined.
Profile: Doctoral degree in Social science and an experience in research on one or more of the topics related to racism, discriminations, equality policies or statistical classifications. Oral and written command of English and French. Knowledge of other European languages will be appreciated.
Working conditions: Fixed-term contract of two years with effect on 1 November 2016. The gross salary will depend on previous experience and range between 2350€ and 2733€ monthly (gross).

POPULATION JOURNAL YOUNG AUTHOR’S PRIZE
Population is a quarterly scientific journal published in English (Population–E) and in French (Population–F) by INED. The Population Young Author Prize is open to PhD students and young researchers working in the field of population studies and will be awarded to the most outstanding original paper submitted to the competition jury.

JOHN C CALDWELL AFRICAN RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN POPULATION, HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT
The 2017 round of applications for the John C Caldwell African Research Fellowship in Population, Health and Development has opened. This year the fellowship will support an early career researcher, including people in the final stage of a PhD. The aim is to foster academic links between population, health and development researchers at the Australian National University and African universities and institutions.

PhD CANDIDATE POSITION AT INED
INED is seeking to recruit 1 PhD Candidate for a period of 3 years.
The PhD candidate will contribute to the research program of INED’s UR5, “Mortality, Health and Epidemiology” under the flagship project “Longevity and healthy ageing”. The dissertation project’s aim is to estimate the risks of death above age 90 and to assess how they have changed over time since the 1980s in Belgium, France, and Quebec.
