SPM’s Programme of Activities:
The programme of activities of the SPM is composed of the set of activities described below. (Please note that the planned activities are not yet finalized since we still need to reach consensus on the activities and potential sources of funding, and seek partnership with interested organizations and institutions.)

Arena 1: Participation in regional and international meetings on migration
The Panel will send representatives and participates in various regional and international meetings on migration.

Arena 2: Training, Seminars and workshops
Short Training Course on “The Demographic Methods for Measuring Internal and International Migration”
This seminar is to be held before or after the next UAPS Population Conference or by partnering with any interested institution in 2018.
This training course will target young demographic researchers who want to study migration. It aims to equip them with demographic tools for both data collection and for methods in the analysis of migration data, including new approaches to the study of irregular migrants, trafficked persons, highly-skilled migrants, return migration, and circular migration. Up to 30 participants are expected to join this training course.

Workshop on “African cities between internal and international migration: How migration transforms the demographic and socioeconomic shape of African cities.
Cities are the main recipients of internal and international migrants. This workshop will examine levels, trends, and patterns, as well as causes and consequences of internal and international migration to African cities. Up to 30 participants are expected to join this workshop.
