Call for papers - "Development Archives" Seminar by the Global Research Institute of Paris

Within the framework of the project entitled “The construction of post-colonial states by development experts” supported by GRIP, a call for contributions is launched up to 20th April 2022. This project aims to shed light on the role of expertise in the construction of post-colonial states by drawing on different types of archives. The challenge is to understand the circulation of development knowledge at different scales, both in local territories and at the headquarters of international organisations. In order to initiate this work, a seminar on “Development Archives”has been inaugurated.

The aim of this seminar is therefore to bring together and discuss work that :

  • – engage in a reflection on the social conditions of production, conservation, availability or on the methodological issues of the use of development archives in the social sciences;
  • – and/or use not only archives from the headquarters of organizations but also from the relevant southern, national or local administrations and the private archives of the various individual and collective actors involved

The proposals expected within the framework of this “development archives” seminar may therefore concern the production of development archives (selection, prioritisation, conservation), access to these archives (digitisation and putting them online) and/or the possible uses of these archives in the social sciences.

Read more about this Call and submit your papers to [email protected]  and [email protected].

Deadline for submissions: 20 April 2022
