In 2018, Prof. Samuel N.A Codjoe, the former UAPS President on behalf of UAPS and  in partnership with the Regional Institute for Population Studies, University of Ghana established an academic award as a means of supporting the training of the next generation of researchers in the population field.

On Friday, April 13 2018, the first award of its kind was presented to the Best Masters student in Population Studies at the University of Ghana during the schools’ Award ceremony.

Since then, the academic award has been presented to three (3) other students in the population field.
